I've just read the post from the administrator about Nathan Hill, a member of staff at Marton School, attempting to close this forum down. I'm so angry. Who does he think he is? What right has he got to try and close down an open forum, a forum for people to have their say? What makes him think he can stop freedom of speech like that? As the administrator says, the comments on this forum have been polite and constructive. There has been nothing rude or discourteous. There have been a lot of interesting facts. Maybe the interesting facts are what Mr Hill does not want disclosed. Has he got something to hide?
Mr Hill, concentrate on your job, not on sabotaging a perfectly legitimate website.

| I do hope that Mr Hill is not attempting to shut this site down because that will mean someone creating a third web site to get the messages out to the parents of the children of Marton, I wonder (if it is in fact true) just exactly why he is trying to shut the site down, Mr Hill, there are many people who read this message board to find out information about events that have occured at Marton over many month's, if you have issues with what has been put on some of the messages then take the time to reply to some of the claims and we will all be better off for it, but to try and end the website is something I think would only back fire big time, I wonder just why Mr Hill is taking this course of action or has he simply been told to do it, interesting, mind you a man did try and stop us having our parents meeting too !!! HE FAILED ALSO !!!!!!!!!! |

I have been in contact with Bravenet who hosted the original site and can confirm that a Mr Nathan Hill did contact them on behalf of the school and Governors to close the site. I was reassured by Bravenet that he did not provide any legal reason to support his request - even thought he was repeatedly asked for it.
Moreover, I now have it on record from Bravenet that the school and Governors were attempting to prevent the freedom of speech of parents - if in fact Nathan Hill was telling the truth in that he represented the Governing body. This will of course come out in a future inquiry into the school's actions - the request by the Governors should have been miinuted.
To close the current site the regulations are quite clear. Evidence of defammatory content, libelous remarks or a court order must be provided to the hosting company in order for the forum to be closed. Parents have at all times posted sensibly and intelligently on this site so I can see no possibility of this happening. |

Further to yesterday's post, I would just like to emphasise that the old forum was closed simply because it was getting out of hand, some people in opposition to the site were abusing it and more importantly the current site is much better organised and less open to this type of abuse. Bravenet played no part in its closure.
Therefore, should there be any problems arising from Mr Hill's attempts to block the current site, the original site can be re-opened immediately. |
