I was wondering after reading through this website, how many of you have actually removed your child from this school and how easy was it for you and them to adapt to a new school.
For those of you who have, are you now feeling at ease with the choice you made?
Snapdragon.
Snapdragon - estimates of 60 plus children have been removed from school by parents since Mrs Coupe arrived. I moved my own child (in Year Five) last term, and he is now very happy at his new school.
Please see my recent post "Sinking fast?" under the "Eyes Wide Shut" thread in The School topic.
I would certainly welcome reports from other parents who have anything to report on this subject.
I have not removed my children, but my daughter has removed my grandchildren.
My daughter started looking for alternative primary schools in March/April 2005 when it became obvious to her that the standards which were so high under the leadership of Mrs Lancaster had started to slip.
She sought reassurance from the Headteacher that the future would be fine, but she was not convinced by the answers given. She also wrote to the Governors and the LEA with her worries, no satisfactory answers were given here either.
In May 2005 she found places were available at Our Lady Of The Assumption RC primary school and after visiting and talking to the Headteacher there, she decided that this would be the right move for the children, even though we are not Catholic.
My grandchildren left Marton in July 2005, they had 2 weeks at their new school before the summer holidays and the school was an instant hit with them. We thought that we may have problems with them leaving their friends but they were made to feel so welcome by everyone in the school, children and staff alike. They even had a welcome to our school assembly for them.
Since July 2005 3 more Marton children have joined Our Lady's, with ours that is 5 and my youngest gran daughter has just started Reception so that is 6 Marton children that I know of at this school alone.
My daughter was removed from her position at Marton school as a direct result of her concerns not only for our children but for all the children and staff at Marton.
It was the hardest decision we have had to make as a family we thought when we chose Marton 9 years ago that it would be the school for all our grandchildren to attend but unfortunately this was not to be. The main thing is they are happy, doing extremely well and I am glad to say not missing the new Marton at all.
