Unbiased View ...

I visit this site from a totally unbiased and neutral standpoint (the benefits of not having to work for a living!) It appears that matters here have become a tad confusing. Try to stick to the facts! Correct me if I am wrong....

- In most people's opinions the school was doing well under the old headship?

- Staff morale / turnover was as resonable as any school can expect?

- A new head arrived and attempted to implement changes. As in any organisation some senior mangers (rightly or wrongly) opposed the changes ?

- A senior teacher was suspended (reason still unknown, but possibly due to the above)

- Various other matters arose - turnover of staff, incident on the computer etc...

-Two camps emerged.. those upset by the above incidents, opposed to Mrs Coupe and angered by the lack of communication. And those who support the current head and are anxious to see the school move on and respond to issues brought to light by Ofsted. These people appear to acknowledge what has happened, yet they see those opposed to Mrs Coupe as trouble makers who are still trying to hold the school back.

How can these matters be resolved??

The LEA, school leaderships and current governers are, quite obviosuly, keen to turn a blind eye to many of the issues raised here. By failing to respond and holding private meetings they are simply ignoring some issues as they

a) want the school to move forward and, we presume, to dismiss the suspended teacher.

b) Ensure that they remain safe in their current, well paid posts...

The issue which remains, and needs to be quickly addressed, is the suspended teacher... If she is guilty of a serious breach of contract then she could be dismissed and the LEA / Mrs Coupe camp can to some extent claim a victory and continue with restructuring the school...

However, if the case is dismissed or if she is not guilty of anything which would lead to dismissal then another can of worms opens..

I believe that she would have the right to resume her teaching post at Marton, but by law would not be able to work in the same place as the person who brought such a case against her..

The whole debate rests with the outcome of this issue.. The rest of the issues raised on this site just blinker us all from this...

Lets stick to the facts and be honest...

If any of these issues appear incorrect then please let me know as recently the debates on here have become difficult to follow!

Stan,
Something which may not be clear to a lot of people that are reading these posts is that Mrs Alderson officially raised a 'grievance' against the actions of Mrs Coupe last year. A week later Mrs Alderson was suspended by Mrs Coupe with no involvement from the governing body.
The hearing for the grievance was supposed to take place recently (7 months since raising it). The hearing could not take place. I am in the process of finding out all I can about what happened. And as soon as I am sure of my facts I will explain more. But you can be sure that this isn't the end of the matter, although some staff at Marton seem to have been led to believe it is.

An excellent and well thought out argument Stan.

I just hope that everyone from all sides visits this post, reads it and thinks about your statements.

It has been clear that in recent weeks there has been a determined effort from some quarters to close or discredit this site. Perhaps they too might take heed of what you say. The forum is the ONLY means of many parents communicating regularly with each other.

Perhaps if your post is buried like others under a heap of replies you could cut and paste it regulalry into new posts.

Good luck Lisa.
