Standards ?

I would like to share the following section of a recent governor’s report with readers of this forum:-

"The Chairman reported that he had sight of a national report stating that over 50% of youngsters had strayed into pornographic sites at home and these occurrences rarely happened intentionally."

So that’s alright then. No need for the MSAG or parents to get hyped up about security of school machines – the children will have seen it all at home anyway !
NOT in my house they won’t Mr Turner – nor in the homes of any of my friends who have children. Internet use is a shared family experience in our households – children NOT shut away alone in bedrooms but still part of the family environment. And with proper parental controls on machines. This is how it should be in schools too – proper supervision and proper controls.

Notice Mr Turner doesn’t give the source of this information nor qualify the research by describing in what situation these children were allowed to browse the web freely.

Let’s apply Mr Turner’s line of argument to some other social issues.

I read a report earlier this year of research carried out in our high schools which showed that over 50% of pupils carried knives for ‘protection’. So if a Marton pupil was found to be carrying a knife would Mr Turner tell us not to worry because they would be carrying them at high school soon anyway ?

Then what about the recent news reports highlighting the lack of suitable punishment to boys who carried out sexual harassment of girls. If an incident happened in Y6 at Marton would Mr Turner say never mind – it was probably not intentional.

And the government inquiry into bullying in schools earlier this year. If bullying was found to be happening at Marton is Mr Turner saying we needn’t bother because it happens everywhere ?

What have we come to where a person who has access to the children and teachers of Marton is following this sort of philosophy ? What standards of social behaviour are being set ? It is to be hoped that staff don’t listen to him. These governors’ minutes confirm more than ever, my personal view that this gentleman should never have been allowed anywhere near an educational establishment where young children are being educated.

astonishing

This is truly astonishing!
When will the Authority say 'Enough is enough?'
Why have people complained to the Chair of Governors when he is not going to address the problem? It seems as though there is a cover up of what is really going on. If it can happen at this school, can it happen at others?
It is no wonder the number of new pupils are on the decline.
I don't feel confident in the school or the Council.

This beggars belief!

However, I really don't know why anybody would be surprised at anything Mr Turner says or writes any more. After his disgraceful behaviour towards Mrs Alderson and Mrs Reidy, I doubt if anyone could have any respect for him - as a person, let alone in his role as Chair of Governors.

Are you really surprised what Mr Turner comes out with ? For almost a year he seems to have tried to sieze control of the problems at Marton not knowing that he has actually added to them, some of the newsletters that bear his name are/were laughable as he puts across a totaly one sided view and cant/doesn't want to address anything that happened before his arrival, then he moans that the MSAG hadn't the decency to send him a copy of the DFeS complaint.
At least he was there when the Mrs Alderson and Mrs Reidy went back to school last term AND LOOK WHAT HAPPENED THEN !!! This man tries to silence the staff at Marton by telling them that they should not post on this forum, some role model.............. Finally Mr Shore, you mentioned a cover up,well I know many people who share your view, hopefully the DFeS will have the foresight to see right through the propaganda which is coming out of Marton by the bucket load, I, just like Mrs Coupe would like the school to be the best primary in Blackpool, but there are a few more changes which need to be made first, but has Mr Lund got the bottle to carry them out ?

Can you believe that he has been voted Chair of Governors again? This makes me absolutely confident that the Board of Governors are going to run the school into the ground. In my opinion the only Governors and teachers who had any morals and thoughts about the staff and kids have already left the sinking ship. I've also been told that the 'in' crowd seem to get favourable treatment for their kids too. Disgusting! Thank God none of my children are at Marton. Based on the numbers of the intake this year Marton will not last much longer. The council/government HAS to do something about this. Bring back Mrs Lancaster, bring back Mrs Alderson, bring back Mrs Reidy, and a few others too, and I'll move my child back to Marton tomorrow!

now lets be realistic here, with all the negative attention received by mr.turner and his inappropriate ramblings- sorry newsletters, do you honestly think anyone would be interested in being chair of governors at Marton. i'm sure it was a long and exhausting campaign for mr.turner, having to compete against many candidates all desperate to be at the helm.
lets look forward to more outbursts from mr.turner who has had such a starring role in keeping this site going and inflaming every situation he is involved in.
three cheers for mr.turner................hip hip hooray!

I have doubted the people complaining in the past but I have now read through everything on this forum and can see the full picture. Its disgusting why isnt something being done?

re-election

Well said Tracey.

I am not surprised he has been elected again by this sorry group who pass themselves off as a governing body. Mr T probably just had to walk into the room and say "Put up your right hands", they all did so he then proceeded to tell them what they had just voted for.

Did you know that when the authority's I.T. people came into school one super intelligent technician created a program to help monitor attainment levels in the school. The idea was that children could have a conversation with the computers based on their IQ level.

To test his program he entered 80 and had a conversation about TV Soaps. Next he entered 100 and talked about politics. He then entered 150 and talked about nuclear physics.

Just to see what would happen he then entered a -50. The computer bumped and belched and sparked and smoked for a good 10 minutes. When it finally settled down he heard a voice saying "welcome to Marton school governor's meeting ......
