Satsuma Incident - Posts from old websiteThe_Truth Sep 20, 05 - 8:34 AM Satsuma incident
Over the weekend I heard something very disturbing and I wonder if anyone else can add any info.
I heard a story regarding a class where a 5 year old child spat out a piece of chewed satsuma following fruit time. The teacher spotted the chewed up fruit and proceeded to interrogate the class as to who was the culprit. Apparently then a senior member of staff came in and got involved.
What followed then, so I have been told, is that a one and a half hour interrogation of the children took place where they were threatened with the police amongst other things. Out of sheer terror one child held its hand up even though they were not the culprit - just to end the ordeal.
THESE WERE 5 YEAR OLD CHILDREN!!!!!!
Does anyone have any information to support or refute this story? Was your child involved?

I have heard the same story, but I CANNOT confirm this as fact, though I will try and find out,If this is confirmed then we have a real problem, but like I say it has not been confirmed to my knowledge.

I can't help you about the satsuma business but I'm worried about my son and his class in year 6. I have just started looking at this site and didn't realise what had been going on. I thought my son was going to be in Mrs Alderson's class, but then heard that she was suspended. My son came home on the first day and said he had a supply teacher because Mrs Alderson wasn't back. This week the supply teacher has been off school and he has had another teacher. I am really worried because it is his last year and I thought SATs were important.

This is amazing because the same thing is happening in year 5. My daughter is on her second teacher already this term. It looks like no teachers want to stay. The good news is Mrs Gaskell is now teaching her, she used to be a teacher here before so i hope she stays

I know the satsuma incident is true my friend's child was one of the children in the class she came out of school crying that night because she was so upset and kept telling her mum that the police were coming to see who had spat the satsuma out the children had been told the police could tell who had done it by testing the satsuma! My friend calmed her daughter down and told her that the person who had threatened this was only joking but we were shocked that this had been said when we try to teach our children that the police are our friends my friend told me that her daughter hd been awake in the night after that.

I can't believe this. Which teachers were involved?
unhappymum Sep 20th, 2005 - 8:29 PM Re: Satsuma incident
The Headteacher was the one who told the children the police would be able to test the satsuma thats why it was so shocking there was a teacher helper in there too I don't know her name.

I really can't believe this - senior members of staff terrorising 5 year old children.
This can't be allowed to slip by without investigation.

I am concerned that with more than likely 20-30 pupils in the classroom at the time of this alleged incident, that there are no comments from the parents of children who were involved here!! Plus, surely if this incident happened, then 20-30 parents complaining to the authorities/media about the conduct of the staff involved, certainly could not be ignored!!

my child WAS in that class and I can conform that this DID happen. My child was one of the ones who was upset and came out crying to be honest, I couldnt really make out what had gone on.It was a few days later that I was talking to some other parents and found out exactly what had happened and that is what it says on this board. It was too late then to go into school I didn't want to make a fuss and I didn't want to remind my child of it.I certainly wouldnt of gone to the papers about it but I didnt think the way it was handled was right.Talking to other parents I know they werent happy either. We have always told our children the police are there friends not people to be frightened of.I know at least one parent did go into complain but I dont know what was said. Why would somebody make something like this up?At the time I didnt realise all the other things that were going on at Marton or I might have been more worried.

As my son is still a pupil at the school, of course I am ‘Very’ concerned about what I am reading (who wouldn’t be), and the many accusations, and revelations being spoken of on this site!! But you can be sure: If I had found out that he had been interrogated for over an hour, frightened, and threatened with the Police, over such a trivial matter, that fur would have flown to say the least, and be most polite in a public forum.. I just can’t understand why no more than one parent didn’t kick up a right royal stink at the time, the same with the porn incident??
As a non-Gazette reader, most of the information on this site is ‘News’ to me!! My concerns is that there seams to be a lot of things being said, presumed, assumed, etc, by many, without the back up or the full ‘Facts’ being know: and I for one, have heard over the past week, many rumours and tit bits of ‘Gossip’ by parents I would not like to repeat on this forum, for fear of prosecution myself.
It is time for all parties to stop hiding and come out with the proven truth, on all maters concerning the school, staff, leaders, pupils, threats and accusations etc, etc, etc. and if nobody is willing to do this: then we need to find a third party who will: i.e. a local MP!! And instead of hiding on hear organise a ‘Public Meeting’ for all concerned parents, staff, and leaders to attend, to decide what we are going to do if we don’t get this information.. i.e. bring our kids out till we do!!!
