Prevention of Freedom of InformationI have just had my request for access to the notes taken by PC Coupe at the two parents meetings refused for a second time.
The first was refused on the grounds that the notes were not covered by the act.
I requested the information again, pointing out that they were needed in order to verify that the school were not in breach of the Data Protection Act in the type of material being recorded about parents.
This was refused yesterday on the grounds that PC Coupe was acting as a private individual.
Now correct me if I am wrong, but weren’t letters sent to all parents prior to the Ofsted Action Plan Meeting that ONLY parents of children attending school would be allowed into the meeting. Furthermore security officers were employed to make sure that ‘private individuals’ did not attend.
I am unsure why I have been refused.
Were no notes taken ? Have they been lost ? Then why not be open and just say so ?
What do they contain that parents are not allowed to view them ?
Was PC Coupe there just to intimidate parents ?
In future will other people now be given special dispensation by Mrs Coupe to attend parents’ meetings and take notes ?
I have contacted Lancashire Police Authority who confirmed that PC Coupe was not on police business.
Once again Mrs Coupe has simply abused her authority as head of the school by admitting her husband to the meeting and not other ‘private individuals’ such as parents of last year’s Y6 or other interested parties.
She is also now making it clear that she does not want parents to have access to any information about themselves.
If Mr Turner, Chair of Governors reads this, please be assured that I am not ‘vicitmising' Mrs Coupe, I am reporting on my own experience for other parents to read. Whatever the reason for refusing me I am sure that this is not normally the behaviour of a Primary School Headteacher.
Finally, am I the only person who is worried about what information is being held about me by the school and/or PC Coupe ?
