Nathan Hill - LEA and Council Legal Action

As reported in the information section, I have received notice today that a Nathan Hill who is trying to have this site closed down, has contacted the people who host this site again.

He has said that the matter has now been passed to the LEA and Council's legal teams and that they will be contacting the people who host this site with further action.

Two things strike me about this. Firstly, is Nathan Hill telling the truth about this? Secondly, if he is, how do you feel about the LEA and Council taking legal action against a website that provides a forum for people to discuss what the LEA and School are not prepared to discuss.

As far as I am concerned, this has now been taken to a whole different level. Either we have a member of staff at the school and whomever may be in collusion with him, who are prepared to lie and cheat to achieve their aims or we have an LEA and Council who are prepared to use funds which should be used on the children to try and once again gag the concerned parents and friends of Marton School.

Please, post your comments here. And I challenge anyone from the school, LEA or Council to post on here and either confirm or deny these threats.

I am thoroughly shocked by this, and agree with admin - this is yet another example of Mrs Coupe and the LEA trying to gag people who have a genuine grievance, or a different opinion to theirs.

This website was set up and opened up to all - anybody can join, nobody is banned, anybody can post a point of view, a comment, a complaint or a query. Others usually respond. Anything that could be construed as libellous is removed (as happened on the previous website).

I find it hard to believe that the council is prepared to spend a vast amount of time and money on closing a website that is simply a forum for debate amongst people connected in any way to Marton School.

Nathan Hill's previous attempts to get the website closed (either on his own initiative, or under instruction) failed miserably. There is no reason to believe this attempt will be any different.

LONG LIVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH!

I spoke to a council member several days ago and that wasn't the response I got.
I wonder why Mr Hill has suddenley been elevated to the Councils legal department?
It appears from the previous posts that Mr Hill is a determined young man who is desperate to close all discussion on Marton. Is there something to hide?
Would it not be easier to answer the questions that have been raised?
After all, if they are untrue, it would save a lot of time.

Legal Action

Has anyone noticed something a little bit familiar with this particular thread? Ever since I was a kid myself, I can remember the pathetic whinge-ing of one particular child who would always be threatening us with someone bigger than him if we didn’t play his games, or let him have the ball… “I’m going to tell on you!”

This is still a common tactic used by those who are too cowardly to stand up for themselves, but who are prepared to get someone, ANYone to stand in the line of fire for them, and help them get whatever they want. We have seen it throughout history, and we see it today in so many news stories – usually involving politicians, or newspaper magnates, people with more money than friends, and the like.

I see this holy trinity of Coupe, Turner and Hill in a similar light. Whenever they themselves feel threatened, they try to hide behind a threat of police action, or to find a way of “shutting us up”. That kind of behaviour is typical of a bully. I was bullied at school, and for a while I tried to ignore it, and to turn the other cheek. Then it got to a point when I’d just had enough, and I stood up to them. I was never bullied again, and I’m not going to tolerate this modern-day version now.

There has been nothing “defamatory” on this web-site or in the recent press release. The comments that have been made are opinions that all of us are entitled to make. You may read similar opinions about members of parliament, football managers and movie moguls every day in the tabloids, but you will not find a proportionate amount of people going through the courts!

So please feel free to express your opinions. Stand up to the bullies who still cling on to their positions of “authority”, and be prepared to watch them squirm when the Day of Atonement falls due…

Have the Governng body officially appointed Mr Hill as spokesman in this matter for the school ? Why are the school, LEA and governors relying on a 22 year old technician in this matter ?

Having investigated this matter previously - the law as it stands requires that any complaint be sent to the Postmaster of the site and given 48 hours in which to reply, in order to remove any offensive posting. Has Mr Hill followed this procedure ? Without it no host would be legally required to close a site.

It is strange that Mr Hill is acting to close the site when he has never answered any questions relating to the safety of the school system. Perhaps he is thinking that attack is the best form of his defence.

WE NEED TO INFORM ALL PARENTS THAT IT SEEMS MARTON SCHOOL DOES NOT BELIEVE IN THE RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF SPEECH. IN WHICH COUNTRY ARE WE LIVING ?

It seems to me the school and the LEA are far more bothered about this website than they were about the pornographic websites visited by the supply teacher at Marton before he was escorted off the premises. Weren't staff asked to keep quiet then, too? So long as everybody keeps quiet and everything is swept under the carpet, then nobody needs to worry.......or do they?

Whatever the outcome of Mr Hill´s latest attempts he will be unable to silence the increasing number of questions and concerns being raised about the running of Marton school - and the role the LEA are now playing.

I have reopened the original forum at the same web address (Mr Hill please note)

NOT that I think that it will be needed. as the current site is working so well, but just to ensure continuity if needed.

Mike Turner's Letter

Has anyone noticed the number of views this website is getting since Mike Turner sent the letter out to parents? That was the best PR job I've seen in a long time.

One other point in specific relation to the Nathan Hill issue, I am aware that he has denied his actions of closing this site down to colleagues at the school. Does this suggest that he is lying regarding involving the LEA and the governors?

Mr Hill´s denials

Mr Hill certainly cannot deny that he attempted to close down the first forum which I set up, on a number of occasions. On each occasion he was asked by Bravenet to provide a legal reason for doing so. He was unable to.
I have received documented evidence from Bravenet.

My email also states that he claimed to be acting on behalf of the governors and the headteacher. If this was the case no doubt it will have been minuted at a governor´s meeting. Perhaps Mr Turner would care to respond to this.

Isnt it interesting how this same function is prevelent today. Mr Hill appears quite reactive towards me whenever I appear in school. If he is parked outside as i pull up he suddenly makesa move towards school before me as if to warn staff of my arrival. Also yesturday a lady made haste inher car to get into school before I did. Im not entirely sure ,but it may have been the illustrious Mrs Peacock. I have only ever seen the govenors photo so again I am not sure.Mr Hill appears to hover in the office when I am around and can on most occasions is wearing a smirk of sorts. I guess this would be age related?

All the comments made back in Nov 05 arestill hearin May o7. They work very hard to mask the truth, why do you think that is ? Giselle

One step beyond!

The reason I got involved in Marton in the first place was when I heard about the LEA taking legal advice to close down the forum. I thought the idea appalling then and still think so now.

As most of you are probably aware, I lost my council seat in the elections last week. Whilst obviously being very disapointed at first, I have come to realise some advantages. I no longer feel shackled by the borough council and the Standards Board. It is a ridiculous situation that a serving councillor is unable to criticise a council officer, no matter how inept or corrupt they may be.

Let me assure you that, as a Councillor, I took the concerns of worried parents, fearful teachers, bullied staff etc... right to the top. I had several meetings with the Chief Exec about Marton. However, much as Mr Weaver seemed genuinely concerned, very little seems to have been done, I do believe there is a conspiracy to hide the truth about the goings on at Marton and I have been collating a file of my own for the inevitable investigation which will surely happen.

Mrs Coupes husband had me dragged before the Standards Board to explain ALL my actions in relation to Marton school. After a six month investigation, I was cleared of any wrongdoing - indeed, had I actually done what I was accused of by Mr Coupe, that still would not have been a contravention. This was a great victory for common sense, but whilst I remained a Councillor, I was unable to discuss it or to reveal that it was Mr Coupe who had made the complaint.

I can also reveal the teacher suspended from Marton, was given a job at Layton School, then, when Roy Fisher, the leader of the Council at that time, found out about it at a Council meeting, she was promptly sacked the next day. Roy Fisher gave me his word that he had nothing to do with it, despite ringing the head teacher later that evening after the council meeting. I didn't believe him then and I don't believe him now.

I may no longer be a councillor but I fully intend to hold this council to account for the disgraceful mismanagement of this whole sorry affair.

The electorate may have changed some of the monkeys on May 3rd but the organ grinders are still in their jobs!!! (for now).

lOSING SEATS

Jon, I am sorry you lost your seat. It is a shame that one of the few people who listened to the people of Blackpool has not been rewarded. I am sure that if you were standing for a Marton seat you would have been successful.
I do think that many Labour Councillors have been removed due to their apparent apathy. Despite many concerns being raised, they have simply ignored the disaster that has become Marton. It is clear that the results of the school continue to fall and even the OFSTED report found that the Head was not good.
Roy” what day is it" Fisher, Eddie "the biscuit "Collett and Eddie "the x Mayor" Mathews have been given their just desserts. I hope the new administration will be looking into the scandalous affairs and take the appropriate action so lacking from Labour.
As for Mr Coupe, I can't believe he is still getting involved. After he intimidated parents by walking around the school and parents meeting with his clipboard like some stressed jobsworth, I thought he would have realised Marton School is none of his business.
When will they remove the cause of the problem?

I, too, am sorry that Mr Bamborough lost his seat. He deserved to stay, as he was the only councillor who actually listened and tried to get answers for the Parents' Group. Despite his best efforts, the answers, as always, were not forthcoming. Like the rest of us, he did not crumble under criticisms or threats - they just made him more determined to pursue the truth. I'm sorry he had to endure six months of unnecessary investigations after Mr Coupe's complaint about him - something that leaves me shaking my head in disbelief and despair. I am amazed at the depths some people will sink to in order to attempt to remove all opposition.

Katie, I agree with your sentiments, although I would suggest that "apathy" is an extremely diplomatic way of putting things. I can think of more apt words for the lack of action from those councillors who knew exactly what was going on - but chose to ignore it.

Jon, I wish you well in the future. Hang on to that file, guard it with your life - these things have a habit of going missing.
