Mrs Alderson - posts from old website

POST BY Lisa j walker Sep 15, 05

I never had the pleasure of meeting mrs alderson but have heard only good comments about her and what a good teacher she is. My son went into year 6 this year, his teacher was supposed to be mrs alderson and i knew nothing about the susspention till i read it in the evening gazette during the school summer holidays, on returning back to school on the first day of term we had no idea who my sons teacher would be and have had no letter of any sort explaining why they do not have the teacher they were supposed to have and who the teacher is who is teaching them now. The school is always telling the parents that communication has to be made about anything that concerns our children so then why can they not do the same when it comes to the staff at marton after all this does affect our children.

Lisa, I do sympathise with you. Communication is just one of many issues bothering me, and other parents I have spoken to. Since the change in headteacher communication has either been non-existent or misleading. If Mrs Coupe does not want rumours to abound then she needs to be open and honest with parents. We have had neither openness nor honesty in the last twelve months. We were led to believe that Mr Richardson left Marton in order to further his career. The truth was he had no job to go to when he handed in his resignation. He is working in a temporary one-term post at present, and has taken a drop in salary. I'm sure we can all draw our own conclusions from this. Mrs Reidy has been absent due to ill health. We have had letters home, mentioning lists of teachers for this year, Mrs Reidy had disappeared from year 1 and there was no mention of her whatsoever, it was as if she had just disappeared. On that list were teachers I had never heard of. I have heard since that they are temporary, but parents were not made aware of this. The impression was given that they were newly appointed permanent staff. As parents we deserve to be kept informed at all times, not misled. How can we be honest with our children if the head of the school is not being honest with us? I am looking forward to the meeting with parents mentioned in the Gazette article, as hopefully we will be able to get some answers to questions which have so far been ignored.
