Message to all GovernorsBeware of all information you are given. You are all (mainly) intelligent caring people. In my opinion you have been denied information you should have had, some information has been disguised and manipulated and you have been told incorrect information. Play Devil's Advocate once in a while and see if you still feel the same way.
Why have so many parents removed their children from the school. And many of them were high achievers. All that lost revenue for the school. I believe the school receives several thousand pounds per child. At least 60 children down from last year - do the maths! There is going to come a point very soon where you are going to have to dismiss staff as you will not be able to afford their salaries. Then what will happen to the Action Plan to correct the 'problems' at the school?
Don't sit there in the meetings nodding your heads and saying what a terrible bunch the Action Group are. You are not puppets. You are individuals who have opinions. No one body of people agrees entirely with all the views of one person. You are there with a responsibility to look after the children of Marton. That is your first priority. Will you sleep easy at night in a few months time knowing that you did nothing to help the desperate staff, parents and children. I know I wouldn't.

costsThe removal of over 60 children since Mrs Coupe took up her appointment, means the loss of approximately £2,000 per child per year. That adds up to a loss to Marton School of at least £120,000 this last year!
Marton School was supposed to have a MUGA (Multi Use Games Area). The money for this (approximately £75,000) was granted when Mrs Lancaster was Headteacher, and the MUGA was supposed to have been built last year. After numerous enquiries I have been told that the money for the MUGA has been diverted and put into Marton School because of all the problems. I am disgusted. This MUGA would have been a huge asset to the school, both in terms of its use for the children, but also in terms of revenue for the school.
After further enquiries to Blackpool Council, I have also discovered that huge amounts of money have been pumped into Marton to prop up a school that is, by all accounts, a shambles.
