To all those who post on here (and those that don't) who think that Marton is a bad school educationally, then follow the link below (enter all as one line in your browser):

This is the official DFES site (Department for Education and Skills) and it shows on the first page that in 2004 Marton is undisputedly above both the LEA and National average. The LEA average is 231, the national average is 237 but Marton is 244!!! The statistic shown is one that shows how a school is performing in relation to how it was expected to perform. Its a bit of complicated calculation, but acts as a great indicator.

If you go on to look at all the statistics you can see that the LEA as a whole is down compared to the national average. In fairness Marton sits about average in the LEA scores - so, not that bad then.

DON'T BELIEVE THE RUMOURS - READ THE OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT FACTS.

I believe that the 2005 figures just out show that we have improved even more, despite a negative and gloomy outlook from the head. This improvement is not down to any changes which happened last school year but is an indication of the way the school was improving, whilst still maintaining everything we have all grown to love about Marton - now all that has gone.
