inside viewAs an employee of BBC I am amazed about how the whole Marton affair has been managed,
I now see great pressure on the CSA staff from Councillors, other Blackpool Headteachers and the press.
Blackpool is struggling to recruit Headteachers. Who would want to come and work for an Authority embroiled in such a mess?
Of the three Head vacancies available one current Head applied for all 3 – as there is little competition.
Anchorsholme has been forced to re-advertise, but it does not mention this in the press, as this would put off even more.
Now another head has managed to leave the sinking ship that BBC is – yet another vacant Head job.
That is without mentioning the unbelievable situation that Marton’s Headteacher is involved in. What a mess!
Money is being withheld from Marton and other schools. You have to ask yourself why???

Progress? HouseCould this possibly be anything to do with Blackpool being a “Unitary Authority”? The Education Department would appear to have degenerated into its current state since the change of status, and I am told that other Council Departments are in a similar state. One independent observer who regularly comes into contact with various Local Authorities in the North West recently described Blackpool as “a Mickey Mouse Outfit”.
While the Action Group clearly have many concerns about the behaviour of the current Head at Marton Primary School, our case has been aggravated far more by the way in which the Local Education Authority have bungled the dispute – ignoring the early signs of trouble that began as long ago as October 2004. Since that time, there have been many occasions when the LEA have had an opportunity to take corrective action – but instead their reaction has been to place implicit trust in individuals who are either corrupt themselves, or totally incapable of fulfilling their appointed duties. That is why there is a lengthy official complaint currently being examined by the DFES, which I feel has only hinted at the total shambles that now lies behind the door of the Director of Children’s Services at Progress House.
