Changes reversed

I have just been browsing and discovered a thread on page 3 of this topic area concerning sets in Y6.
I am surprised that no-one has picked up on it before now.

Is it true that Mrs Coupe has reversed her decision on changes to sets in Year 6 back to 4 ?

I am not surprised if staff were reluctant to change in the first instance (larger groups and altered structure) but to now have them changed back after all that has happened must really have upset them.

It does make one wonder how many other changes have been reversed, which parents won't get to know of course. How many of those changes have led to the problems the school is facing ?

I don't suppose either, the HMI will be told of the reversal of her decisions now he has gone - or the Ofsted team.

changes reversed

If anyone cares to really look back over the time since Mrs Coupe became Headteacher, they will see that there are LOTS of decisions that she made at the beginning (very unpopular with staff) that have now been reversed. This includes major changes to setting arrangements, which I know, for a fact, Mrs Alderson, and other experienced staff, challenged. These people were then labelled as troublemakers because they dared to use their experience and expertise to argue the case for leaving the sets as they were. I have also heard that booster classes are now being planned for the Easter holidays. If Mrs Coupe's vision is working so well surely holiday booster classes would not be needed now. After all, they were never necessary in the past - and results were improving.

Of course, the u-turns made by Mrs Coupe since then have been kept very quiet. Like many other distasteful things, they have been brushed under the carpet. I think Mrs Alderson and the other members of staff who dared to make the same point, have every right to feel embittered now. They might have been vindicated, but at what cost to their health and their careers?

Perhaps people need to ask the governors about Mrs Coupe's post ofsted action plan, which replaced many of the things that had existed under Mrs Lancaster, but had originally been removed by Mrs Coupe -resulting in the poor ofsted report! One governor, who dared to point this out was soon removed from the governing body. Which seems to be the way Mrs Coupe operates - remove the obstacle, by whatever means necessary.

I am very worried by what I have read about Mrs Coupe changing her mind about the size of the sets when a lot of teachers siad she shouldn't reduce them in the first place. You also say a lot of things have been altered by her and chaged back. Can you tell me what things please. If all this is true then why did she not listen to these experienced teachers. I am getting very worried about this now. My friend has told me she is removing her son from the school and she thought Mrs Coupe was doing a good job to start with.I am also worried about the letters that Mr Turner keeps sending out. I have never know such things go on at a school. I was pleased when he first stuck up for the school but he seems to have gone a bit too far.

I am disapointed that nobody has replied to my question. You have said that things have been changed back to what used to be done in school before Mrs Coupe took over. can nobody give me some examples or is it not true?

Sarahj, write to Mr Turner, Chair of governors and ask for a copy of the post ofsted action plan. If you were familiar with the way the school was run pre-Mrs Coupe you will see from that exactly what she replaced - which was already there under Mrs Lancaster, but had been removed by Mrs Coupe in the first few weeks and months.
