Can someone tell me

in a quick summary what the problems are and should I be worried as my child has just started Marton.
Should I remove my child and how easy is it to do so?

Concernedmum, there is really no quick and easy way to summarise what has gone on at Marton since Mrs Coupe became Head.
I know it will take time, but I can only suggest you read back through the whole of this website to get a true picture of the school, as it was, and as it is now, then form your own opinion. Nobody wants to force anybody else into beliefs or actions they are not comfortable with, and that includes removing your child from Marton.

As you have probably gathered, more than 60 children HAVE been removed since September 2004 - that in itself should be some indication of parents' unhappiness with the current regime. Removing a child is not difficult, although you have to give a reason, and, owing to the high numbers of children that have been moved to different schools in the area, places are now becoming limited at these alternative schools.

The Marton Parents Action Group was formed so that parents could have a voice. Unfortunately, despite months of questioning and correspondence to the school, the governors and the LEA, that group is STILL waiting for answers. Their questions have been rudely ignored, and they are now preparing to take things further.

If you would like any further information, I am sure Mr Alan Veale, who is himself a parent, and a member of the group, would be more than willing to answer any of your queries. You can email him privately via this website. Alternatively, you can write to the Chair of Governors, Mr Mike Turner, whose address is on an earlier post. If you do that, I hope you have more success than the many others who have written to him - and are still awaiting replies.

Finally, removing a child is really a last resort, and not something to be recommended lightly. Ideally, we would like to see the school returned to its former glory pre-September 2004. Unfortunately, many parents are now resorting to removing their children in a last ditch attempt to get some response from those people mentioned above, who obviously think if they ignore complaints for long enough they will eventually go away - along with the complainants.
As you can see, concernedmum, we are NOT going away, and will not rest until we get some answers.
