ANOTHER WORRIED PARENTA friend of mine told me that she was concerned about the recently published SATs results at her child's school. She goes to Baines Endowed CofE Primary school in Blackpool. Whilst the English and Science results were ok, the Maths results were dreadful. They are the lowest maths results in any of the Blackpool schools and are well below the national average. She asked me how they could be so low when the other subjects are doing ok. I am afraid I couldn't help, but told her she should go in and speak to the Head. It may be that last year was just a blip, but given the experience of the LEA's performance, she should keep a close eye on her child's work.
Maybe there is something fundamentally wrong with the LEA as a whole.
