What a great idea! An INSET Day on teambuilding!

It must have taken a genius to come up with that one. It's logical really, I suppose - destroy all the well-established teams, knock everyone's confidence and self-esteem, make sure nobody trusts anybody else, then have a day teambuilding and everything's fine again.

So that's alright then.

well i thought i had heard of everything, a team building day. now before anyone takes offence or is sceptical i am sure that those who attended did so without pay. I also have no doubt that every member of marton staff was asked to attend, because if this was not the case how would they be able to build a better team if some are already being excluded.
It does seem a good idea though, but it is just sad that it is seemed neccessary to do it. I had always felt, up to recent years, that everyone pulled together and were in fact more like a family. Let us hope this day was successful, but surely the main cause of division and unhappiness at Marton will still be in her office when term begins in a couple of days.

The start of a new term looms, and at Marton, it is many staff rather than children who will be dreading the first day back.
You are right Tracey – a team building exercise can’t cover the cracks – what a farce! The damage is done.
Take comfort, as I do, that Mrs Coupe may still retain her position as Headteacher, but she above all others must be dreading the start of another year of humiliation at Marton. Every mistake she makes is public, she goes to work each day knowing that her staff have no respect for her, she knows that the LEA Advisers still have to support her, three years on, as she is unable to do the job for which she was appointed by herself.
Her confidence must be at rock bottom, which explains why she spends the majority of her time locked away in her office, ignoring the children and staff who actually make the school. Worst of all for her is that she knows she is trapped. This forum ensures that she can’t leave Marton. Who would employ her?
So yes, it’s miserable for all the staff at Marton since Mrs Coupe was appointed, but it helps to remember that she must be the most miserable of all.
