Last night I attended the Blackpool Arena to watch and listen to my grandchildren play and sing in the Christmas Festival of Music, it was a wonderful evening the children did themselves and their schools proud. My grandchildren no longer attend Marton and represented their new school, it was great to see they were accompanied, supported and encouraged by a full support of staff including Mrs Bird who I remember from Marton, also the head teacher who sat with them and joined in, helping with the words and toilet duties, along with other staff. I saw several other schools with their head teachers joining in and generally supporting their children.
I saw Marton children and very smart they looked in their shirts and ties, a credit to their school and parents. Mrs Brooks was there looking after them along with 3 other members of staff, may I say one of whom had a mouth full of what I presume was chewing gum as her jaw never stopped chomping, if I noticed, then so must others, not a very good impression.
During the first half there was no sign of Martons illusive head teacher. The compare introduced the Mayor and Mayoress along with various Directors on the front row. Then came the interval and I spotted Mrs Coupe walking out of the arena, so why was she not with the children, supporting and encouraging them? On her return I was amazed to see she was sitting on the front row two seats up from the Mayor and his wife.
Whilst other heads and staff were sitting on the steps and floors with their children she was sitting on the front row with the important people!!!! ( I was under the impression that was the children) She only joined the staff and children after the show had finished.
What is going on, a head teacher should be leading her school, proud of her staff and children, I wonder how Mrs Brooks and staff felt seeing the heads from so many schools, so committed to making the night for their children and parents, knowing Mrs Coupe was obviously more interested in sitting comfortably in the middle of the front row. (best seat in the house for this most important of people ha! ha! ha! )
No surprises there then.
It seems to me that Mrs Coupe is far more interested in mixing with the "right people" than with the staff and children of Marton. Mrs Lancaster would have been sitting on the floor - and proud of it!
The dignitaries of Blackpool obviously view the behaviour of Mrs Coupe much more favourably than that of Mrs Lancaster, judging by what has gone on for the last two years.
However, I don't think the parents of those children would agree. _________________ EVENTUALLY THE TRUTH WILL OUT, JUSTICE WILL BE DONE.

I tend to disagree with all those posting above about Mrs Coupe. The way I see it, this poor woman has finally realised that she just doesn’t belong in the mayhem world of education, and is now merely displaying her potential for her next appointment: - as Number One Bodyguard for Blackpool’s First Citizen. (After all, she’s probably had more experience in the firing line than she has looking after children…)
Come on people give Mrs C a fair crack of the whip.how else is the mayor to find out what a bad lot those MSAG people are,,,,,after all Mr Turner seems to have lost his biro recently!!!!!!!!!
Those seats may have been raffled between the Heads of all the schools,,,or Mrs C may have neded to sit comfortably because she hasn't done so for the past 18 months or so,or finally she may have contacts and was able to blag a decent seat.......... em now then !!!!!!
Remember when you were at school, there was always one naughty child who had to sit next to the teacher during assemblies, carol services etc, so that they could be kept an eye on.....hmmmmm......think about it
Whilst it helps us to vent our feelings, snide little remarks, whilst very funny, don't seem to have any effect. Those who attended the show will of seen where Mrs. Coupe was seated whilst not fully realising the importance of it. Any school is represented by its pupils, staff and Headteacher. On many occassions the Headteacher(and their actions) are seen as the 'face' of what that school represents. That Mrs.Coupe was sat near the Mayor and not near the children at what should be a wonderful event speaks volumes. Far from representing Marton as the others apparently did, Mrs.Coupe is clearly just representing herself. After all it is the school, staff and children who have suffered through all of this.
It just goes to further show me how she appears to believe she is above the fun participation that was a long standing part of why Marton had such a loving and family feel to it.
How sad for her that she didn't sit on the floor and enjoy the children and staffs company, these are memories in the making and once they have gone can not be duplicated.
I'm sure the children still had a wonderful time.
