I feel it is necessary to remind all visitors to this site of the purpose for its existence. Today I have received a call for help from a parent of a child who is the subject of bullying at Marton Primary School. Like many of you reading this, I have had personal knowledge of that kind of experience, and can not condone it in any form. Bullying is usually carried out by cowards who enjoy the experience of exercising their power over others they perceive to be weaker than themselves. They are often supported by mentally inferior cohorts who like to enjoy special favours that only the bully can provide from their “superior” position. Adolf Hitler was a classic example, as were all dictators throughout history – and the same will sadly go on into the future. Almost the only way of ridding society of these bullies is by the formation of like-minded “allies”, who are prepared to stand up and fight back, often against formidable opposition.
If you haven’t already grasped my theme by now, let me remind you that Head Teachers can behave in exactly the same way as these bullies from history. Without a thought for anyone but themself, one person can impose his or her own will by gathering together a band of people who are prepared to support them in return for special “favours”. They have unique control over a select group who have to apply themselves to the will of the Head – or face disciplinary action. The LEA will provide automatic back-up to the Head’s authority, because they expect that the Head is in the best position to know just what needs to be done in school. The Governing body is largely made up of representatives of the teaching staff and persons appointed by the LEA, with a couple of token representatives from parents – so it is easy for a Head to influence the outcome of any votes.
Of course, it is extremely rare for any Head Teacher to actually mis-use the position of power to which they are entrusted – but it DOES happen. And when it does, it is only down to the people who are not actually under any direct influence of the Head Teacher to speak up and make their voices heard – the parents.
THAT is why this web-site is so important – because it allows our voices to be heard. Mrs Coupe hates it, and has done everything she can to have it closed down. The Action Group has been formed, and “someone” has tried to stop us holding a public meeting. We have written to the press, and to local Councillors, and the Education Authority has threatened legal action against us. Are you prepared to let them win? Do you think it best that we simply remove our children from school? Do you believe that the Head Teacher and the Education Authority are genuinely doing their best for the school?
Let your voices be heard! If you know of someone who is a parent out there, and worried sick about what is happening to their child, then let them know they are not alone. Reassure them that the bullies never win in the end, and that if we can use our voices in unison, then they WILL be defeated.
